1 John 5

As the short epistle of 1 John concludes, the Apostle John helps his readers focus on the essentials of their faith:

“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.”

1 John 5:12 NLT

God has given us eternal life. This life is in His son, Jesus. If you have the Son, you have life. If you don’t, well, you don’t have life. Plain and simple. John is straight forward here.

The past 40 something days and counting are memorable, to say the least. As one day bleeds into the next, I tend to forget all sense of time and space. A routine that worked for me yesterday seems to have morphed into something else. From binge-watching unique shows to playing with my model trains to fiddling with all new backgrounds that Microsoft Teams added into their program, my attention span nowadays is about that of a gnat. Nothing is in my control anymore but my attitude and approach.

What hasn’t changed is that God loves me more than I can imagine or will ever be able to comprehend. Our hope for you amid this momentary chaos is that you will remember He deeply loves you as well. Life abundant is to be had in just something simple as faith in the One who created it all and gave His best for you.

Prayer

Lord, this day, help me focus on what truly matters. Help me embrace the life you have given me. Lead me in your everlasting ways to be an agent of your grace in these difficult times. Amen.
